Zoie Pendragon
by Rick Bass
Rick Bass's newest novel is an epic tale of family, adventure, and the power of the natural world. It is set in the remote and beautiful Yaak River Valley in Montana and follows the unlikely friendship between Zoie Pendragon, a young woman struggling to find her place in the world, and Boone Helm, a bear-hunting guide who has spent his life in the wilderness.
When Zoie's father dies, she inherits his cabin in Yaak River. She decides to spend the summer there, hoping to find some peace and solitude. However, she soon finds herself drawn into the lives of the locals, including Boone. Boone is a rugged and taciturn man, but Zoie sees something in him that she admires. He is a skilled hunter and tracker, but he also has a deep respect for the natural world. He teaches Zoie about the ways of the wilderness, and she begins to understand and appreciate the beauty and power of the Yaak River Valley.
