About the Author
Ryszard Kapuscinski was a Polish journalist, writer, and poet. He was born in Pinsk, Poland, in 1932. He began his career as a journalist in 1956, and he went on to report from more than 60 countries around the world. Kapuscinski's work has been translated into more than 40 languages, and he has received numerous awards for his writing, including the Neustadt International Prize for Literature and the Prince of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities. Kapuscinski died in Warsaw, Poland, in 2007.
