In 1756, Papunhank traveled to Philadelphia to meet with the Quaker leader John Woolman. Woolman was a committed pacifist, and he shared Papunhank's belief in the power of nonviolence. Together, they developed a plan to establish a peace treaty between the Lenape and the European settlers.
Papunhank's efforts to promote peace were not without their challenges. He faced opposition from both his own people and the European settlers. However, he remained steadfast in his belief that peace was the only way to secure a future for his people.
In 1763, Papunhank played a key role in negotiating the Treaty of Easton, which ended the French and Indian War and established a period of peace between the Lenape and the European settlers. Papunhank's work for peace continued throughout his life, and he became a respected leader among both his own people and the European settlers.
Papunhank's story is a powerful reminder of the power of peace and the importance of diálogo. He was a visionary leader who dedicated his life to making the world a better place. His legacy continues to inspire people today.
