Misha was born in Poland in 1927. He began playing the violin at the age of five, and by the time he was 10, he was a gifted musician. When the Nazis invaded Poland in 1939, Misha and his family were forced into the Warsaw Ghetto. In the ghetto, Misha continued to play his violin, and his music brought comfort to the other prisoners.
In 1942, Misha and his family were sent to the Auschwitz concentration camp. In Auschwitz, Misha was forced to play his violin for the Nazi guards. The guards would often make him play for hours on end, and they would beat him if he made a mistake. But Misha never gave up playing his violin. He knew that his music was a way to stay alive.
In 1945, Auschwitz was liberated by the Allied forces. Misha was one of the few survivors of the camp. After the war, Misha emigrated to the United States, where he became a successful concert pianist. He never forgot the horrors of the Holocaust, and he dedicated his life to sharing his story with others.
Boy With Violin is a powerful and moving story of survival, resilience, and the power of music. Misha's story is a testament to the human spirit, and it is a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope.
